Here you will find what they claim "is the most comprehensive site on obesity and overweight on the Internet.  Obesity is not a simple condition of eating too much.  It is now recognized that obesity is a serious, chronic disease.  No human condition -- not race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or disease state -- compares to obesity in prevalence and prejudice, mortality and morbidity, sickness and stigma."  This site also offers fast facts "en Espanol."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of all Americans.  During the past 20 years, obesity among adults and children has risen significantly in the United States.  These increasing rates raise concern because of their implications for Americans' health.  This site covers the causes and effects of obesity, provides statistics, and explores solutions.  There is also a link for Spanish.
