The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests what vaccinations are needed for traveling to different areas of the world.

U.S. Department of State : Current Travel Warnings

The State Department issues Travel Warnings, Public Announcements, and Consular Information Sheets about individual countries. If there are health problems, crime problems, security problems, etc., the State Department will issue warnings about traveling to particular countries. The entry requirements - whether a passport or visa is needed - are listed for each country.
