Although these essays were written for a Canadian audience, they address the issue of euthanasia with great insight and ask the difficult philosophical and moral question : Is it possible for us as a society to recognize and assert the fundamental importance of life while at the same time recognizing and asserting the right of a terminally ill patient to die with dignity?  These are both excellent, thought-p0rovoking essays, written by scholars of philosophy and religion.

This  site provides information and research on euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, living wills, and mercy killing. It has links to numerous related topics, medical, legal, statistical and religions information.  Although the site is authored by the Pro-Life Council, it is a good starting point for research on the topic; it is well maintained and current. Some of the information is in Spanish.

The euthanasia research & Guidance Organization (ERGO), a nonprofit educational corporation based in Oregon, USA, was founded in 1993 to improve the quality of background research of assisted dying for persons who are terminally or hopelessly ill and wish to end their suffering.  This page has a section on the chronology of euthanasia, a glossary of terms and link to Professor Michael C. Kearl's, from the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at Trinity University, faculty page under the top tier "Sociology of  Death and Dying," which has a section on 'Euthanasia and the Right to Die.'
