Welfare Information Center- AWIC http://www.nal.usda.gov/awic/index.html
Part of the National Agricultural Libraries of the U.S. Dept. of
Agriculture, AWIC was created by mandate of the 1985 Animal Welfare Act
amendments. Its site is a clearinghouse of information on the care and use
of animals in commercial enterprises, with links to relevant state, federal
and international legislation, AWIC publications, and related associations.

Alternatives to Animal Testing

The Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing,
in collaboration with various public and private funding organizations,
developed this site in order to foster the development of scientifically
acceptable alternatives to animal testing. Two of its most important links
are to laws, regulations, policies and guidelines pertaining to animal care
and use and to educational resources for students from kindergarten through
college.
American Anti-Vivisection Society http://www.aavs.org/home.html
The oldest anti-vivisection society in the United States.
Advocates non-animal testing and research, and encourages non-animal
alternatives for teaching. Good listing of links.
Americans
for Medical Progress Educational Foundation
http://www.amprogress.org/
The AMP seeks to ensure that the public supports the vital role of
animals in medical and scientific research. Through newspaper and magazine
articles, broadcast debates and public education materials, this
organization exposes the disinformation of the animal rights movement and
advocates research involving animals.
Animal Concerns Community http://www.animalconcerns.org/
A project of the non-profit EnviroLink Network, this site serves as a
clearinghouse for information related to the animal rights movement. These
include links to publications, news stories, photographs, and organizations
from around the world representing all sides of the animal rights issue. EnviroLink identifies the source and author of every article contained in
this site.

Dr. Ken Boschert, a veterinarian at Washington University’s Division
of Comparative Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, provides an extensive list
of links to organizations involved in animal welfare, rights, humane and
rescue efforts. Find out the latest from the ASPCA, PETA and other city,
state, regional, national and international groups.
PETA
(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)
http://www.peta.org
PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations,
research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement,
and direct action. PETA focuses on animal treatment on factory farms, in
laboratories, in the fur trade, and in the entertainment industry.
