Part of the National Agricultural Library of the U.S. Dept. of
Agriculture, AWIC was created by mandate of the 1985 Animal Welfare Act
amendments. A clearinghouse of information on the care and use
of animals in commercial enterprises, with links to relevant state, federal
and international legislation, AWIC publications, and related associations.

Alternatives to Animal Testing

The Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing,
in collaboration with various public and private funding organizations,
developed this site in order to foster the development of scientifically
acceptable alternatives to animal testing. It includes links
to laws, regulations, policies and guidelines pertaining to animal care
and use and to educational resources for students from kindergarten through
college.
American Anti-Vivisection Society http://www.aavs.org/home.html
This Website from the oldest anti-vivisection society in the United States,
advocates non-animal testing and research, and encourages non-animal
alternatives for teaching. Good listing of links.

for Medical Progress

The AMP seeks to ensure that the public supports the vital role of
animals in medical and scientific research. Through newspaper and magazine
articles, broadcast debates and public education materials, this
organization exposes the disinformation of the animal rights movement and
advocates
humane, necessary, and valuable
research involving animals.

(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)

PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations,
research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement,
and direct action. PETA focuses on animal treatment on factory farms, in
laboratories, in the fur trade, and in the entertainment industry.
