Rated among the top humanities Websites by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Duke University's Civil War Women online archive provides primary source documents about women's experiences in the Civil War.

"A site for women in the military, women contemplating military service, and women veterans."  Message boards, FAQs and information about military service in all branches.  Last update: 2004.

Military Women Veterans : Yesterday - Today - Tomorrow

A fascinating and very thorough site about women in the military.  The site, authored by retired U.S. Air Force Captain Barbara Wilson, gives historical information from the American Revolution to the present.  There are also many statistics, pictures and links to other sites.  This site is very current.

Interesting site on the history of women in the military by service branch, i.e. Navy, Army and Air Force, as well as by conflict.

Women Come to the Front (WW II)

The Library of Congress provides biographical and photo archival materials about women journalists, photographers and broadcasters in WW II.

Women in Military Service for America Memorial

This site is presented by the "Women in Military Service for America Memorial" and includes links to  historical information, statistics and photographs.  Although much of the site is about the memorial museum, the "History Articles" link is especially useful for its facts about the contributions of various ethnic groups in the military.

This is an excellent website focused on women in the military during the war in Vietnam.  There is excellent information on women who served, and in what capacity.  There is also information on nurses, the Red Cross and female journalists covering the war.

This site has a vast array of information on women's military and war history, women who served in support roles and how women's roles changed from women who stayed home.  There are many biographical entries, articles on spies, nurses, museums, POW's and much more.
