In addition to their volunteer field work in the remote villages of Latin America and Caribbean countries, they also provide assistance and home health care to Hispanic and Haitian migrant workers at home. The purpose of diversity Rx is to improve language and cultural competence for health care professionals. This will improve the quality of health care for minority, immigrant, and ethically diverse communities. The site includes a database of cultural competency models for health care professionals, and other documentation to support cultural competence in health care. This site includes standards for all health care professionals, including nursing, and is sponsored by several health organizations.
The EthnoMed site, from the University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center, contains extensive, searchable information about cultural beliefs and medical issues pertinent to the healthcare of immigrants to the U.S., many of whom have fled war-torn homelands. Cultures covered include Cambodian, Vietnamese, Tigrean, Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Chinese, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Hispanic and others. Explanations of diseases and diagnostic tests are provided in multiple languages.

This is the Web site of the Transcultural Nursing Society. It provides information on the society and relevant conferences, and is a gateway to the society's official journal, The Journal of Transcultural Nursing (JTCN). This peer-reviewed publication provides a forum for nurses, health care professionals and persons from other disciplines to discuss issues related to the advancement of knowledge in the area of culturally congruent health care delivery.
