The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the 13 major
operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which
is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the
health and safety of all Americans. Over the last 20 years, obesity
among adults and children has risen significantly in the United States.
These increasing rates are a cause for concern due to health implications. This site covers the causes and effects of obesity,
provides statistics, and explores solutions. A Spanish language link is
provided.
