Citizenship and Immigration Canada funds a site that offers cultural profiles of many countries.  These are the topics covered : Landscape and climate ; Family life ; World of work ; Sports and recreation ; Health care : Education ; Food ; Communication ; Spiritually ; Holidays ; Arts and leisure ; etc.  It is a very informative  site.

U.S. Department of State : Current Travel Warnings

The State Department issues Travel Warnings, Public Announcements, and Consular Information Sheets about individual countries. If there are health problems, crime problems, security problems, etc., the State Department will issue warnings about traveling to particular countries. The entry requirements - whether a passport or visa is needed - are listed for each country.
