Los Angeles County Almanac

A unique online reference work focusing strictly on Los
Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles and the county's many
other communities. The Almanac is packed with 2,000 pages
of information culled from hundreds of public and private
sources, most of which are referenced with hyperlinks.

Provides information about each of the county supervisors
and information about the functions of the board.

If you live in L. A. county, this is a good site to locate information about government

information about California State Assembly members.

State Elected Officials, League of Women Voters of California

Unbiased, non-partisan information about state senate
and state assembly members. Provides contact information for Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney
General, Controller, Treasurer, Insurance Commissioner,
Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the Board of
Equalization. Provides links to locate you state senator and
state assembly member.

This will assist you to find the State Senator for your district. This site also includes a map of

Elected Officials Salaries

Provides the salaries effective 12/4/2000 through 12/5/2005 for California elected officials
including the Governor, Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor,
Secretary of State, etc.
Project Vote Smart

Provides
facts on candidates and elected officials, tracks the performance of
Congress, follows the status of legislation, examines voting records
and texts of bills. Project Vote Smart is now collecting speeches
(http://www.vote-smart.org/cabinet_members.php) for the entire
Federal Executive Branch, as well.
Statewide Database

The
Statewide Database (SWDB) is the redistricting database for the
state of California. In 2001, these data were used for state
legislative and local redistrictings following the 2000 Census as
mandated by law. Data collection and processing for the
redistricting are ongoing tasks conducted over a ten year period of
time, starting with the collection of the census at the beginning of
each decade. With each election between redistrictings, updated
datasets are available as a free, public resource as soon they are
processed. Currently the data are being prepared for the 2011
redistricting.

The State and Local government Internet directory
provides convenient one-stop access to the websites of thousands of
state agencies and city and county governments. Search for
State government offices. View all the websites in a given
state (includes state offices and local governments). Search
the websites of state government constitutional officers, state
legislatures, state judiciaries and departments across all states.

California has State Senators (40) each of whom is elected to serve a particular Senate
DISTRICT. Before you can locate information about your State Senator you must know in
what district you live. To find your State Senate district use the following books:

At the Federal level, California is represented by:
- 52 members in the U.S. House of Representatives
- 2 members in U.S. Senate
The U.S. House of Representatives member can also be called any of the following:
- Your representative
- Your congressional representative
- Your congressman (or woman, or person)
To find out who your congress person is you must know in which congressional district you live. The fastest way to do this is to check the front section of the white pages of your local telephone book or use the links provided above.
