The Web site links have been researched, evaluated, and annotated by
Rio Hondo College Librarians. The Librarians have specifically

California Family and Domestic Violence Referral Directory

From the California Department of Health Services, this publication
lists county-specific resources on family and domestic violence,
including domestic violence and sexual assault hotlines, shelters
for women, legal services, counseling, and programs focusing on
sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and related prevention and
support services.
Family Violence Prevention Fund

Recent
studies on spousal abuse paint a troubling picture -- one in which many families are
affected by devastating violence. At the same time, these studies reveal higher public
disapproval of domestic violence than ever before and a growing willingness to take
action on behalf of victims. The FUND compiles an up-to-date general fact sheet on
domestic violence and regularly commissions public opinion studies.
It also conducts
studies and compile statistics on critical issues related to domestic violence in the
health care, criminal justice, children's, military and workplace arenas.
National
Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV)

"NCADV is dedicated to the empowerment of battered
women and their children and therefore is committed to the elimination
of personal and societal violence in the lives of battered women and
their children. NCADV's work includes coalition building at
the local, state, regional and national levels; support for the provision
of community-based, non-violent alternatives - such as safe home and
shelter programs - for battered women and their children; public
education and technical assistance; policy development and
innovative legislation." This site also offers statistics
on topics such as domestic violence and the military, domestic
violence in the workplace, and dating violence.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

This site by the National Domestic Violence Hotline offers
information on the issue and how it relates to various segments of
society . It also provides statistics and excellent
definitions and lists of problems to watch for in relationships.
There is also a page of excellent links to sites organized by ethnic
groups, ender, religion and teens.
SafeState : Domestic Violence

This site from the California Attorney General's Crime and Violence
Prevention Center has resources on domestic violence, with emphasis
on California Statistics and programs. It provides data on
domestic violence, links to research reports from government and
educational sources, prevention publications, and prevention ideas
for victims and law enforcement.

Prevention of Domestic Violence

The OPDV provides
links to national organizations and resource. It acts as an
advocate for domestic violence services and victims, promotes and facilitates interagency
cooperation among state agencies and interdepartmental cooperation
between different levels of government in the state in the delivery
and/or funding of services, and conducts statewide community
outreach and public education.
