Autism Acceptance Project

An advocacy group that proposes an alternative view: that autism is not an illness but a different way of living.  This site provides many links to other resources for this viewpoint, plus artwork and essays by autistic individuals.

Autism Research Institute (ARI)
http://www.autism.com/index.htm

For more than 40years, ARI has devoted its work to conducting and disseminating the results of research on the triggers of autism and on methods of diagnosing and treating autism.  They provide research-based information to parents and professionals around the world.

Asperger Syndrome Education Network
http://www.aspennj.org/

An advocacy group for people with Asperger syndrome.  Includes an overview of AS, an extensive reading list, and links to various support groups.

Center for the Study of Autism
http://www.autism.org

This site contains very basic information on a wide variety of autism-related topics.  Contains overview pages on treatments, interventions, and controversies.  Use words like "definition" in the search box.

MedlinePlus

A portal maintained by the National Institutes of Health.  Contains links to current news, some articles, and organizations related to autism/Asperger syndrome.
