What IS an email account anyway?
- Email accounts allow you to send and receive electronic messages from
people all over the world or from down the street. At home you will need
a computer, a modem, and an Internet service provider (like AOL, Verizon,
Earthlink.net, Prodigy or a host of others).
- At Rio Hondo, you will need to open a Web-based email account since
you cannot dial-up your Internet provider from on campus. This is a
simple process and usually involves registering with a Web-based
provider (Hotmail, Excite Mail, Yahoo Mail, etc.) and selecting a user
id and password.
- You can use Web-based email accounts at any computer that has access
to the Internet.
- Web-based email accounts are free; dial-up Internet Service Provider
accounts are in the range of $19.95 per month for unlimited use.
